Convicted Professionals Series

The first Convicted Professionals event was held on Wednesday 3rd of December, 2014 at the Lagos Oriental hotel. Over 150 guests from different organisations arrived at the event ready to glean useful information and tips for their careers and businesses.

Our guest speakers for the day were Mr Herbert Wigwe, Group MD/ CEO of Access Bank Plc and Mr Henry Ikem-Obih, Executive Director of Mobil Nigeria.

The purpose of this event was to officially launch the Convicted Professional Series and Protégé Professionals. The vision of the company is to build people for the workforce that seeks to be on the cutting edge. In line with this, the theme of the day was a mock court setting which had in its dock our speakers of the day as the “convicts" defending their professional careers. The aim of the Convicted Professional event is to create a platform for true authentic professionals to showcase what makes them professionals by sharing their career journeys.

In an unusual courtroom dramatisation, professionals are challenged to prove what makes them true professionals. Protégé Professionals believe that these stories from successful professionals can help others to craft their own career path, learn the ropes, understand what are the fundamental building blocks in maintaining sustainable businesses, organisations and careers.

Mr Herbert Wigwe, MD/CEO Access Bank Plc was the first in our mock court and he shared with the Audience the inspiring story of his journey to the top. Amidst much laughter and role-play, the audience were able to learn that hard work, commitment, integrity, having a vision, a trusted business partner and strong values are his top tips on how to climb the ladder of success. Mr Wigwe also shared with the audience a book called Buyout that changed his life.

Next in the Protégé Professional dock was Mr Henry Ikem Obih, Executive Director ExxonMobil Nigeria. Similar to the first speaker he shared his story and gave useful tips to the audience with some very inspiring quotes. His key tips were that hardwork, selflessness, strong personal values, good mentors/role models and integrity played a key role in who he was today. The audience in their feedback noted that it was clear that having a good supportive wife was also very key to his success.

The Judge and the Audience (the jury of the day) were unanimous in their verdict that both “Convicts" were indeed “True Professionals" and wished them well in all their future endeavors.

“The concept was wow, I learnt that dedication is key and everyone must discover their strengths. I also learnt that success has a similar pattern and everybody has to fight through their to make their own pathway” -TA (Mindware)
